  • At Gamescom 2025, Atari’s CEO Wade Rosen declares the company’s ambition to become the “best in the world at retro games”, emphasizing support for retro revival studios like Nightdive, Digital Eclipse, and M2, now under Atari’s umbrella.
    Wade Rosen said :
“”We still make sure that we appeal to our core audience that has kept the lights on,. “I mean, Atari would have ceased to exist decades ago if it weren’t for that component, right? And we know that, we don’t ignore that – we’re really grateful for that because it allows us to set up a base.”

  • In a different interview, Rosen also said the Atari+ platform is evergreen, and will be around for a long time.

Sep 4, 2025 — AtariAge Store adds 15 new physical releases
AtariAge’s store blog lists Akalabeth (Intellivision), A/W/A Anthology (8-bit & 5200), plus new 2600 & 7800 carts (full list below). Orders ship in November (PRGE prep cited). AtariAge Store

Highights:

  • 3 guys who wrote these 14 games in basic in the 80’s, too ka fresh look at them in Assembly.
  • Cartridge floppy disk, thumb drive
  • This is really cool.  I love it!
  • Drone Patrol, 7800

Atariage should have all of these are PRGE, if the military allows it.

ARCADE: Polybius Legend’s First Appearance in Fiction? – Retro Bitch

Sep 8, 2025 — My Arcade’s Atari Gamestation Go opens pre-orders
Handheld with 330 built-in Atari titles, 2.8″ screen, HDMI out, microSD; preorders at $99.99–$149 (bundles). Press & retailer pages. GamesRadar+

  • Controls could make this very interesting:paddle, trackball, and numeric keypad
  • 200 games, not all Atari, but a good mix (very MyArcade) some Jaleco/Piko games
  • Price went up to #179.99, which is too rich for me. If I have to choose between this and the Vectrex Mini, it will be the mini as I can play tempest and breakout “correctly” on my Arcade 1-up.

Sep 9, 2025 — Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection launches (Digital Eclipse)
Release confirmed with early coverage round-up; good context for Digital Eclipse’s Atari-owned label activity.

  • The reaction is “as expected”
  • People mostly  like the treatment done by Digital Eclipse
  • People mostly donlt like Bubsy
  • This may be a problem for Atari in the future, as they just donlt have the rich IP in their own portfolio to make these kinds of releases a regular thing.  They will need find others IP.
  • My suggestions:
    • Now that the Saudis; own EA, try to ge the “Strike” series and “Ultima” out of their hands
    • Might and Magic collection
    • Story of FTL
    • Atari 8-bit Heroes (XEGS licenses plus Niner 2049er, etc.)
    • Atarisoft collection
    • Atari ST Collection
    • 16-bit Wars “Atari ST vs. Amiga”
    • SSI RPG collection
    • WB/Tengen/Atari Games/Midway Games West Collection
    • Roller Coaster Tycoon archive

Tetris Forever: Physical Version

I bought the physical version for the Switch for $29.99.  It’s pretty good, and I especially liked being able to play the original Eletronika 60 version.  The controls on the Switch are fine except for  ending and and restarting were a bit tricky, but all in all, it’s good.

I do wish they had added Edtris from Ed Federmeyer, as it was pretty much the first homebrew game, and also a version of Tetris.  Plus I would have liked to see The Atari ST version, the Tengen NES version and the Atari Games arcade version which is probably the first version many people our age played.
