Flash Retro Game Showcase #5: June 12, 2008

OK, we are back. Sorry we missed you last week, but we were having trouble with our main source of games. Mochi Publishers. It seems that their service is so popular now that it has become very difficult just to get to their site to find games!! Since I have been digging through their archives to find the best retro games, their performance problems made it very difficult to locate new titles. In reality, the problem still exists, so we are still limping a bit. That is why we only have 3 new games for you this week: Planet Smash, Sky Patrol and Freeze Lifter.

Planet Smash

Planet Smash

OH the joy! A rip-roaring retro shooter with some of the best reto-shooter music I’ve ever heard. This game is so good at looking and sounding retro, I’m a bit afraid that it is an exact copy of game I’m not aware of. I sure hope not, because it’s great! (note: this game is HUGE and takes a very long time to load).

Sky Patrol

Sky Patrol

Hellza Yeah!! This is the shiznit! I’m not sure what I’m saying here, but I mean this is “f*cking awesome”. Sky Patrol is a take on Time Pilot, with extra weapons. Wonderful. The developers (The Edis Brothers I believe) did a prefect job. It’s retro inspired, but it doesn’t rip any I.P. off from any one else. It plays really smooth, and action is perfect for the size of the screen BRAVO gentlemen, BRAVO!

Freeze Lifter

Freeze Lifter

A very smooth Choplifter inspired game (maybe). Nice graphics, smooth game play. I wonder if the guys who developed this even know that it is nearly identical to a retro game? No matter, it’s very enjoyable.
