Where’s the cash for Flash (updated)

This would normally go into the Weekly Mash-Up, but Chris Hughes sent it over this morning and it was too late for this week, too early for next week, so here it is: A very well researched and put together Gamasutra article on making money from casual Flash games.

Squize pointed out this quote by Sean Cooper of Boxhead:
Which means that
one person can with a lot of hard work, meaning every day of the year
expect to bring in close to $400,000 a year, I think.

I don’t think this is accurate at all for the 99.999999999999% of indie developers making ad and license funded games. With some hard work and REALLY good clients and projects maybe. Or if you have a Dino Run or Bloons franchise (still a big maybe), but this type of money is NOT readily available.

Other than that, it is a pretty good article. It highlights Flashgamelicense, Bloonsworld, Fantastic Contraption, Pixel Jam, Box Head and more. It is very much worth your time.
