“Some giant piece of furniture” cracked me up! Funny remark.

Even though the games are licensed instead of purchased, this appropriation of Activision properties reminds me of your question, “Is Atari trying to own retro?” You exhibited some serious prescience there!

The prices aren’t bad, but the presumed audience already has these games (us guys, basically). One would merely be buying them for the new packaging, so they’re purely for collectors, rather than players. I’ll pass, but I can understand why they would be appealing to others.

As you’ve implied, these are “new” for your game shelves, but that’s about it.

I wonder if the manuals have the same graphics, formatting, etc. as the originals, or if they’ve all been redone in Atari style, like the carts themselves have been.

The best thing that’s been done by New Atari is the release of new 7800 games. That alone makes me want to see them do well.

But in terms of these Activision games, aren’t they basically saying, “We assume that you Atari fans just want the exact same stuff over and over, and that you’ll pay good money for the same games in merely different packaging”? It’s condescending, in a way.

Thanks for sharing the discussion video with us!

Yeah, I mean this for collectors for sure. The one-off, standard version being higher-priced kinda proves that.
I think they miscalculated the prices for the collections, they needed a steeper discount or they needed some “REAL” extras: like unreleased demos on carts and glossy history book or something.

That’s a good point. It would have given people extra incentive to buy the “new” games if significant extras were added. Great idea! Atari should hire you guys! Finally!
