40 years-ago today Atari launched the VCS version of Pac-Man after an unprecedented marketing push. In this video we cover the run-up to Pac-Man Day showing a sample of the massive advertising push employed by Atari and retailers to market a game that did not meet expectations. Then we cover the aftermath and explain why we believe this was Atari’s biggest mistake.
